About
Texas Future is an independent, nonprofit organization that supports the increased funding of infrastructure across our great state. Not funded or affiliated with any political party or government entity, Texas Future’s mission is to educate our citizens about the need to maintain our current conditions on roads and highways, and ensure the legislature is investing in flood mitigation infrastructure that can save millions of Texans lives.
Since its conception, Texas Future has played a key role in driving the discussion about the need to increase our transportation funding. We’ve established a relationship with voters and the grassroots across the entirety of the state, while working with other groups and partners to continue highlighting the need for increased funding among our elected officials and state leaders.
In the last few years, we’ve made a tremendous amount of progress, but our work is far from done. We’ve got to continue finding conservative, reasonable solutions within the parameters of our budgetary framework. In order to maintain current conditions and keep up with the growing population and statewide flooding concerns, we’ve got to improve safety, fix our mounting traffic problems and invest in infrastructure. In 1960, more than one-third (33%) of the state budget was dedicated to transportation, over the last fifty years this has declined to less than ten percent (9%). We can do better, and Texas Future is proud to be a leader in helping to fight for the commitment to our motorists, families, citizens and those who travel our thousands of miles of roads and highways each day. Investing in infrastructure is the conservative thing to do!
